Pharview Stables News Archive - 2008

December 18-January 12

Pharview teamed up with OCET, (O'Connor Event Team). The O'Connor winter camp was a hit for all involved. Those 5 days
were well worth the work and effort that was put forth by all. The O'Connor team saw eye to eye with several of our own Pharview team members. 'Work hard, play hard'. So much so, that two of the Pharview families ended up with honorable awards at the end of the week. It was great to have some of Acadiana witness another professional program doing things the same way that we do. What an opportunity of a lifetime for Pharview!

The campers did things from natural horsemanship classes, to mechanical bull riding to football. By the end of the five days, the campers were jumping jumps that you would have never imagined. They were then taken to a jumper show to show off all that they learned.

Excellent report back from Will after his clinic up at Holly Hill. Nicole lead our riders and parents to a very successful weekend.
They apparently ate well and had lots of fun too. Meanwhile, Coach Ramsay and his family were participating in a fundraising effort put together by volunteers from Lafayette Community Health Clinic. That was a well put together evening with a great band for loads of dancing. Saturday, we split up and 3 of us headed to New Orleans to endure a Lego Robotics competition for our middle daughter. That was another learning experience for me and a positive one at that. Then off to Hunter's Bluff for some show ring competition that turned out real beneficial. Both ponies finished Reserve Champion in full classes.
November 15-16, 2008

Ginger Black Hunter/Jumper Show at Serenity brought us some chilly weather. We were well equipped with plenty of blankets for the horses and jackets, gloves and hats for ourselves. We are so proud of the riding that was exhibited by all. One of our riders took her Intermediate Level Event horse in the jumper ring to win 4ths and 5ths out of 17 and then 10 minutes later headed to the Equitation ring to receive two 2nd place ribbons over fences in a class of 10. Now that is what I call riding! Our pony Championed in the pony ring and Reserve Championed in the short stirrup. Our adult riders won great ribbons in full classes, as well. That was a laid back, fun weekend. Way to go riders!

Pine Hill Horse Trials was unbelievable weather again. What a season we have had! This event is one fast and furious day. Unfortunately, there was a nasty fall on cross country that threw a lot of riders off their game.  However, Pharview riders stepped up to the plate and had a pretty good day. A rail for one of our riders dropped her from first to third and a technical error on cross country took another one of our riders out of first place. That is the great thing about eventing. Just when you think you are on top...you are not!

October 25-26, 2008

Holly Hill Horse Trials provided us with one more near perfect weekend. The weather was gorgeous again. All but one of our riders finished in the top ribbons. Go Team!

- Great job "Team Pharview" for another successful Horse Show.  Our jumper day was very much enjoyed by trainers, parents, grand-parents and students of our community and surrounding communities.  Thanks to all of you for making it such a happy day.  Congratulations to our very own, Lacey Darby, for receiving High Point Jumper rider of the day.

 September 26-28, 2008

- Greenwood Farm Horse Trials was a great place to be.  The weather was perfect and we were surrounded with many fun horsemen and women. There were loads of laughs and most importantly for our sport...  no major misfortune for any horse or rider.  Team Pharview had a great weekend with all finishing successfully. Way to go!

July 31, 2008 - August 7, 2008

- Whoa Nelly!  That was one fun, fast and furious summer.  Where did it go?  A couple of Pharview riders were fortunate to go to Southern Pines, North Carolina for the last week of Summer break.  What an experience that was!  Riding with Will Faudree every day and not to mention, riding the very famous horses, Antigua and Don't Dali.  That was a great way to finish up a good summer.

- The Pharview show was a great success, thanks to all of you. What a great team effort put forth by this community and some from Baton Rouge.  The final day ended with the 4 foot jumpers. It was super to see trainers put their best foot forward and help each other out.  What a fun three days!

July 17, 2008

- The mounds and hills have been developed on our property as requested by world renowned Cross Country designer and builder, Greg Schlappi.  He will return in October to put his final professional touch on the course.  I know that all of you are bursting at the seams with excitement to jump it.  Great things come to those who wait.

- Serenity Farm Horse Show was a great success for Pharview.  We Championed and Reserve Championed in every division we attended and sometimes both if we had more than one rider in the division.  We dominated the jumper ring as well as the hunter ring. Way to go team!  Especially with some of you being on brand new horses.  That was one fun weekend!

- Our new outdoor arena is ready and riding awesome.  The fourth arena will begin soon.  Now that we have a new fancy water wagon, we can water and harrow in minutes which makes our footing second to none.  We enjoyed sharing it with you in July.

- Show stabling will be erected in the very near future.  This request has come from many out of town facilities and now is a great time for us.

June 21-22, 2008

- The Will Faudree Clinic was loaded with fun and excitement.  All of our riders were real tough.  Pharview had the youngest riders of every group and each young rider hung in the group like they belonged there.  Reagan La Fleur, Erin Fruge and Luke Jones were first timers to Cross Country.  Nobody would have ever known.  In fact, Reagan had an awesome clinic with the Training Level group.   Way to ride tough Team Pharview.

- The A Show at Serenity was quite a success.  All of our horses and riders finished in the top. Luke Jones and Time And Again, aka Jesse, really stepped up to the plate and were Reserve Champion in the short stirrup division.  This is just huge, especially at an A show. Go ahead Luke!
